Punjab education department releases over Rs 4.21 crore

On the instructions of Punjab Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, the education department has released more than Rs. 4.21 crore for upgradation of Science and Computer Labs in the government schools.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the school education department said that the Director General of School Education Ms. Isha Kalia has issued a letter in this regard. After converting the government schools into smart schools, the department has decided to renovate the science and computer labs of these schools so that the students can contain excellent lab facilities. According to the spokesperson, a total amount of Rs. 4,21,80,000 has been released for 1406 senior secondary and high schools during the first phase. During this phase, the 554 science and 852 computer labs of smart schools will be upgraded. So far Punjab Government has converted 13224 government schools into smart schools.

According to the spokesperson, an amount of Rs. 33.90 lakh has been released for the 113 schools of Amritsar district, Rs. 4.20 lakh for 14 schools of Barnala, Rs. 25.50 lakh for 85 schools of Bathinda, Rs. 7.20 lakh for 24 schools of Faridkot, Rs 9.00 lakh for 30 schools of Fathegarh Sahib, Rs 9.60 lakh for 32 schools of Fazilka, Rs 9.30 lakh for 31 schools of Ferozepur and Rs 0.60 lakh for 2 schools of Gurdaspur. According to the spokesperson Rs.18.90 lakh has been released for 63 schools of Hoshiarpur district, Rs.18.60 lakh for 62 schools of Jalandhar, Rs.6.90 lakh for 23 schools of Kapurthala, Rs.3.30 lakh for 11 schools of Ludhiana, Rs.6.60 lakh for 22 schools of Mansa, Rs.16.50 lakh for 55 schools of Moga and Rs.10.50 lakh for 35 schools of Pathankot. Similarly Rs.13.80 lakh has been released for 46 schools of Patiala district, Rs.3.30 lakh for 11 schools of Rupnagar, Rs.13.50 lakh for 45 schools of Sangrur, Rs. 9.90 lakh for 33 schools of S.A.S. Nagar, Rs 4.80 lakh for 16 schools of SBS Nagar, Rs 9.90 lakh for 33 schools of Muktsar Sahib and Rs 19.80 lakh for 66 schools of Tarn Taran.

Similarly for rejuvenation of Science Labs Rs. 16.20 lakh has been released for 54 schools of Amritsar district, Rs. 2.70 lakh for 9 schools of Barnala, Rs. 7.50 lakh for 25 schools of Bathinda, Rs. 3.00 lakh for 10 schools of Faridkot, Rs 2.70 lakh for 9 schools of Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 6.30 lakh for 21 schools of Fazilka, Rs 11.10 lakh for 37 schools of Ferozepur, Rs 12.60 lakh for 42 schools of Gurdaspur, Rs 11.40 lakh for 38 schools of Hoshiarpur, Rs 28.60 lakh for 72 schools of Jalandhar, Rs 3.60 lakh for 12 schools of Kapurthala, Rs 8.70 lakh for 29 schools of Ludhiana, Rs 4.80 lakh for 16 schools of Mansa, Rs 7.20 lakh for 24 schools of Moga, Rs 6.00 lakh for 20 schools of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs 6.30 lakh for 21 schools of Pathankot,  Rs.4.50 lakh for 15 schools of Patiala, Rs.6.00 lakh for 20 schools of Rupnagar, Rs.6.90 lakh for 23 schools of Sangrur, Rs. 6.30 lakh for 21 schools of S.A.S. Foundation stone of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University

University is going to run LLB. (TYC), B.A. LL.B (FYIC), BBA LLB (FYIC) and B.Com LL.B (FYIC) classes from the current academic session 2021-22

The Punjab Government under the dynamic leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to establish and incorporate a State University for the development and advancement of legal education and for the purpose of imparting specialized and systematic instructions, training and research in the field of law and for the matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The foundation stone of the university will be laid on August 27, 2021 by Chief Minister,Punjab.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that the mission of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur State University of Law, Tarn Taran is to disseminate legal knowledge and legal processes and their role in national development by organizing lectures, seminars, symposia, webinars, workshops and conferences. To improve the ability with a view to analyze and present for the benefit of the public, contemporary issues of public concern and their legal implications and to do all such things as are incidental, necessary or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objects of the University.

Disclosing further the spokesperson said that necessary approval from the Bar Council of India has been obtained. Approval of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi has also been obtained under the Act 2-F to establish Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University of Law, Tarn Taran.

He further disclosed that the Government of Punjab has sanctioned Rs.5.00 Crore for the University budget from which a sum of Rs.159.10 Lakhs has been released to the University in the Financial Year 2020-21 and for the Financial Year 2021-22 Rs.7.00 Crore has been allocated to the University.

He said that the Government of Punjab has also released a sum of Rs.135.15 Lakhs for the renovation of the building and a tender for the renovation has been allotted.

The spokesperson said that the Architectural Design of the University has already been finalized and the project work will be start in the due course of time. The Campus will consist of an academic zone, administrative complex, residential zone (residences and hostels), sports and recreational facilities.

He further said that the centralized admission at state level for law courses has been allocated to Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar by the State Government and the admission process for Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University of Law, Tarn Taran is under process.

Breast Feeding Week was celebrated on 01st to 07th August, 2021 on the theme ‘‘Protect Breast feeding: A Shared Responsibility’’ by College of Nursing, Obstetrics & Genecology Nursing Department CMC & Hospital Ludhiana. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Reena Jairus appreciated the work of faculty & students and also spoke about importance of breast feeding. Dr. Kavita Bhatti, Professor & HOD, Obstetrics and Genecology Department, CMC & Hospital Ludhiana addressed the gathering and highlighted on the theme & the myths during breast feeding and also told that breast feeding should be initiated in the first golden hour after the normal delivery and can be continued up to 2 years.

The guest of honour Dr. Jatinder, ISO President and the team members of Inner Wheel Club Of Ludhiana, Punjab shared her views regarding benefits of breast feeding. Prof. (Mrs.) Seema Barnabas, unfolded the theme & emphasized on responsibility of every individual to encourage breast feeding among mothers. Poster Exhibition was also conducted by GNM 3 rd yr & BSc (N) 4 th yr students. Judges for poster competition were Dr. Usha Singh, Prof. (Mrs.) Harjit & Prof. (Mrs.) Premlata Prakash and the result was declared by Mrs. Suman Kumar, Associate Professor, College of Nursing. Certificates were distributed to winners, 1st prize bagged by Ms. Dinky, 2nd prize Ms. Georgia and 3rd Ms. Prateeksha, BSc (N) 4 th Year students. A role play was done by BSc (N) 4th Year and GNM 3 rd Year students for the awareness of mothers & their relatives regarding the theme.Vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Shehnaz Johnson, Associate Professor, CON. Mrs. Ashima Baweja, Assistant Professor and M.Sc.(N) 2 nd year students, obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing group highly contributed to make this program.

 A function after a gap of nearly two years

After a gap of nearly two years, ever since COVID pandemic struck a nation, two major functions including ‘Annual Convocation for the MBBS Batch 2015’ and ‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’ were held today in Auditorium of DMC College Campus.   

The dignitaries present during both the functions were Ms Vinny Mahajan (Chief Secretary of Punjab State), who was the chief guest on both the occasions along with President of DMCH Managing Society Sh Sunil Kant Munjal, Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Sh Varinder Sharma and city’s Police Commissioner Sh Naresh Aggarwal.

‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’

In the morning, a function ‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’ to was held to express gratitude to all those front line health care workers, who worked very hard and with selfless dedication during the COVID crisis. Dr Vandana Midha (Professor of Medicine) extended warm welcome to all those present on the occasion and invited Medical Supdt. HDHI- Dr Bishav Mohan on the stage to share with audience the whole journey of DAYANAND MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL in fighting COVID virus and treating COVID patienst. In his address, Dr Bishav Mohan said that recent times of COVID have been very difficult for all of us as a society and it is due to the joint efforts of health care workers of various departments that helped in tackling this crucial situation. He strongly emphasized that Punjab State government and Ludhiana District Administration played a pivotal role in dealing with COVID crisis. The audience was shown an impressive slide presentation of various work forces and facilities & services being provided by the institution during COVID. Dr Rajesh Mahajan (Professor of Medicine) proposed a vote of thanks at the end of function.  

‘Annual Convocation for MBBS Batch 2015’

Another function held today was ‘ANNUAL CONVOCATION’ for the MBBS Batch 2015. Ms Vinny Mahajan, Chief Secretary of the Punjab state was the chief guest. The function began with welcome address by Assistant Dean Academics-Dr Sandeep Kaushal followed by speech delivered by Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, who introduced the chief guest to the audience.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri read out the college report, depicting various activities held in college for the past one year and academic publications contributed by the faculty members.

Dr Sandeep Kaushal administered HIPPOCRATC oath to the young medicos. President Sh Sunil Kant Munjal and Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta warmly congratulated the young medicos in successfully become qualified doctors.

The chief guest Ms Vinny Mahajan motivated the students to go beyond their academic pursuits and always keep their vision open to observe things around them. She advised the young medicos to be extremely humble and sincere to their parents. In all,32 medical graduates of Batch 2015 were awarded degrees including 2 medals and 3 trophies.

Silver Medal for Second Best Graduate of MBBS admission batch 2015 was given to Dr Dhruvika Tiwari and Gold Medal for First Best Graduate of MBBS admission batch 2015 was given to Dr Sanchi Baghla, who also got BEST ALL ROUNDER AWARD of MBBS Admission Batch 2015.
