Government College for Girls in Ludhiana is one of the very old colleges. It is a matter of good fortune to get admission in this college. By studying in this college, many girls have achieved personal success in the struggle of life, while they have also brought laurels to the family and the country many times.

In connection with similar achievements, another good news has come from this college. A student of the B.Com. department of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana gave a brilliant performance in the sixth semester university results.

A student of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana once again demonstrated her talent in the B.Com. final semester examinations conducted by Punjab University, Chandigarh. Mehak Bansal secured fourth position in the university. Principal Mrs. Suman Lata appreciated the hard work and dedication of the students. She congratulated the Head of the Department Mrs. Sarita Khurana and other teachers of the department for their tireless efforts and hard work. She blessed the students to achieve similar achievements in the future.

There is a wave of happiness in the college due to this news.

Following the guidelines of Covid 19, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana organized an installation ceremony of the Student Council. The ceremony began with Shabad Gayan under the aegis of the officiating Principal, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur. Student council accorded a warm welcome to Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, Vice Principal and Incharge of Student Council. Lovisha Narula of BBA III got the post of Head Girl, Rhea Abrol, was elected as Additional Head Girl, Ashmeet Kaur and Gursimran Saluja were elected as Deputy Head Girl. Three students named Sukhroop Kaur, Tejal Khaira and Rakhi Kumari were elected as Secretaries. Aditi Dabral, Lovisha Bali and Ekjot Kaur were selected for the post of Joint Secretary.   

On this occasion, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur honored the students with badges. While addressing, she encouraged the students to excel in the field of education and added that education needs to be used for character building. Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, Vice Principal and incharge, Student Council made the students aware of their role as Member Students Council. The function ended with a group photo of the students and the rendition of national anthem.

PCTE’S BCA student Manmeet Kaur bags 3rd Position

Manmeet Kaur, a BCA student (batch 2019) of PCTE Group of Institutes did tremendously well in the I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Examination and bagged third position with 9.68 CGPA.

Manmeet Kaur said “PCTE has helped me in every aspect of being a good student. A year back I would have never thought of achieving 3rd position in university exams. The credit definitely goes to my dedicated teachers who've helped me in every way they could.”

She further added by saying “Today, I look at myself and feel proud on how much I have evolved professionally and mentally by this college in just one year.”

Mr. Harinder Pal Singh, Head of Department, Faculty of Computer Applications, said that, Manmeet Kaur had put a lot of efforts and was totally dedicated to her studies which ultimately helped her to secure the university position. He further said that she has always performed exceptionally well and has actively participated during the lectures.

Dr. KNS Kang, Director General, PCTE congratulated the student and said that “The Students at PCTE not only perform well academically but also excel in extracurricular activities on campus in order to achieve overall development.”

DD Jain College bagged consolation prize in graffiti

The graffiti designed by the students  of department of Home science of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women,Kidwai Nagar Ludhiana has bagged the consolation prize in the competition organised by the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) at Chandigarh.The graffiti was themed 'Optimum Uses of Energy'. A total of 73 colleges participated from the state and a team of 5 students viz Ms Faiza Naaz, Ms DilpreetKaur, Ms Pragati Dua, Ms Kirti Sharma,,Ms.Nishat participated and made their presence felt by winning consolation prize.

Principal Dr. Sarita Bahl congratulated the winners and said that graffiti is a unique and eye catching way of highlighting such issues and creating awareness.Apart from drawing the attention towards issues through art,Graffitti gives a bigger platform to the artists to showcase their artistic skills.

MTSM girls won many prizes in Inter College Competition

Weight Lifting and Judo Competition held at Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Manji Sahib, Kottan

Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women Shines in Inter College Weight Lifting and Judo Competition.
          The students of Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women brought laurels to the college by winning many Prizes in Inter College Weight Lifting and Judo Competition held at Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Manji Sahib, Kottan Rakhi and Monika won Gold medals in 63 kg and 69 kg weight categories. Sonia clinched Silver medal in 90 kg weight category. Ramanpreet Kaur seized Bronze medal in 75 kg weight category. Ganga and Simran won Runner-up Trophy and bagged fourth position in 48 kg and 53 kg weight category.
           Rajan seized Bronze medal in Inter College Judo Competition organised by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
          College Principal Dr. Kirandeep Kaur and College President S. Swarn Singh and Secretary S. Kanwalinder Singh congratulated to Head of Physical Department Mrs. Kawaljeet Kaur and coach Miss Rajni (Punjabi Department) and winners of their outstanding achievements.

Subject:-  Illegal denial of admission to three children Kumari Anjum, age 16 years, Km. Tarannum, age 14 years,  and Km. Saba, age  13 years, all daughter of Mohd. Daraj presently residing at Plot No. 384, Block-E, Khasra No. 297, New Ashok Nagar, Delhi-110096 by Government Co-Ed Senior Secondary School , Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096

Sir,

It is to bring to your kind notice the plight of three girls  Kumari Anjum, age 16 years, Km. Tarannum, age 14 years,  and Km. Saba, age  13 years, all daughter of Mohd. Daraj presently residing at Plot No. 384, Block-E, Khasra No. 297, New Ashok Nagar, Delhi-110096, who have been illegally and arbitrarily denied admission by Government Co-Ed Senior Secondary School, Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096.

The said three children were earlier studying in D.S.R. Modern School  in Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar which a recognized school. The father of the said three children had to shift to the aforesaid address of New Ashok Nagar with entire family on rent because of financial and employment problems. He was also not able to pay the hiked fee of the said private recognized school.

The father of the children therefore withdrew the said three  children and got the transfer certificate from the said school. Thereafter the father of the children applied for admission of his three daughters Kumari Anjum, age 16 years, Km. Tarannum, age 14 years,  and Km. Saba, age  13 years in the Government Co-Ed Senior Secondary School , Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096 in Class 9, Class 9 and class 6 respectively. It is submitted that the said school is a school nearby their place of residence. However the principal of the said school refused admission to the Km. Sabha without giving any reason. In respect of Km. Anjum and Km Tarnnum, the principal asked father of the said children to bring Address Proof, Voter I Card, Bank Account and Ration Card of the current address of New Ashok Nagar. Since the family has recently shifted to Delhi, it would not be possible to get the said documents immediately. The father of the children showed the rent agreement of the current address but the principal refused to recognize the same. It is submitted that the condition put by the principal to bring said documents for admission of  Km Anjum and Km Tarnnum in school while refusing the admission to Km. Sabha without citing any reason is illegal, unjustified and violate the right to the said three children to education  as guaranteed to them by the Art 21 and 21 –A of the Constitution of India and RTE Act, 2009.

The father of the said children also submitted the letter of Sh. Praveen Kumar, MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Govt. of Delhi, to the principal of the aforesaid school. However she paid no attention to it and ignored the same.

The approach of the school authorities is culpably negligent, arbitrary and shows that the authorities of the department are apathetic and insensible towards the rights of children. These kinds of cases are coming in routine manner where the children are denied admission on such arbitrary reasons. Some stern and reformatory actions and policy decision need to be taken by your government in this regard.

You are therefore requested to take immediate appropriate action in the matter to ensure that the aforesaid children are granted admission in the aforesaid school or any other school nearby their residence.

BCA 3rd students outshine in  PU Examination

Students of BCA 3RD Of MTSM College for Women brought laurels to college by showing excellent performance in BCA 3RD examination April 2014 conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh.  The overall result was 100%. Entire batch got first division. Priyanka attained 10th position   in University, 7th position in District & first in college by scoring 80% marks. Kanika  Trehan and Poonam Devi secured second and third position by scoring 76.25% & 74.80% marks respectively. Principal Dr.(Mrs) Parveen Kaur Chawla congratulated the students and staff for excellent performance and wished them all the best for their future.

Panjab University: DD Jain College grabbed 1st position

1st  Position in Panjab University Chandigarh grabbed by Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana. The students of  M.Sc.(IT)3rd  Semester made the institution DD Jain Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana proud by securing various positions in Panjab University result of  December 2013. Manpreet stood 1st in Panjab University  by securing 81.6% marks, Jaspreet stood 4th  in Panjab University by securing 80.42% marks, Meenu stood 6th  in Panjab University by securing 79.4% and Srishti stood  8th  in Panjab University  by securing 79% marks.

An exuberant Farewell was accorded to B.Com and M.com Final Year students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. True Spirit of Womanhood was on display in the function as it coincided with the International Women’s Day. The girls of the Commerce Department presented the vivid colors of India through regional dances including Lavani, Gujarati, Bharat Natayam, Sufi Dance and Ganesh Vandana. Modeling Rounds for the out going classes were also conducted. Radhika was adjudged Miss Farewell B.Com. Tanavpreet and Jyoti were declared Ist and IInd Runners Up respectively. Taranpreet was crowned Miss Farewell M.Com. The excitement of leaving college and entering into a new face of life was visible on the faces of all the students. Principal of the College Dr. (Mrs.) Varinder Kaur Thind applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers and wished the outgoing classes the best in their lives. She also encouraged the students to work hard for the coming final exams and strive for university positions.

Ludhiana:30 October 2013: (Rector Kathuria//Education Screen): 41 N.C.C. Cadets of Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana attended the Ten Day 3rd Pb. Bn. Camp at Malaut. Not only this, Sonia is selected for the Republic Day Parade. Reena won gold medal in Firing whereas Jyoti and Nidhi got gold medals in Tug of War and Manu got gold medal in Poster Making Competition whereas Sonia got gold medal in Table-Tennis. Daljit Kaur got gold medal and Tanu got silver medal in Senior Cadet Competition.

College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Parveen Kaur Chawla congratulated the students as well as N.C.C. Incharge, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur for the achievement and inspired them to keep up the same spirit in future too. S.
