Much-awaited convocation at GGN Khalsa College was held

The much-awaited convocation at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Ludhiana was held today, with over 300 degrees conferred upon the students of various streams from Undergraduate and Postgraduate classes. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, M.L.A. Amritsar (North) and Former I.P.S. The pious academic event witnessed the benign presence of Dr. S.P. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, Other members of the council S. Gajinder Singh, S. Hardeep Singh, S. Harsharan Singh Narula, Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla, College Principal, Faculty Members, and Students. Dr. S. P. Singh accorded a floral welcome to the Chief Guest and described the college's illustrious past, saying that it is a place where students are taught and schooled in the art of achieving their aspirations. This distinguished institution's graduates have achieved success in a variety of sectors, including academics, administration, judiciary, politics, social service, literary activities, and sports, and have brought laurel to their alma mater. He also congratulated the degree recipients and wished them success in the future.
In his presidential remarks, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, the event's Chief guest, commended and thanked the worthy members of the Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, the Principal, teachers, and students. He told the students that, thanks to science and technology, the entire globe has become globalised and connected; even national education systems are evolving and changing, and individuals are adopting new ways and strategies to keep up with the changing environment.
Two autonomous authorities in India, the UGC and the AICTE, have created Skill Orientated Programs to make education more career-oriented, as it is not only necessary to obtain degrees but also to possess skills in order to obtain a good job.
Dr. Arvinder Singh , the Principal, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, members of the management committee, professors, and students, saying that convocation day is one of the most memorable and precious days in a student's life. In today's competitive environment, he believes that education and information plays a pivotal role. As a result, rather than following in the footsteps of others, pupils must forge their own route. It will also assist them in developing their own distinct identity. Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT/GGNIVS, and Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal, GGNIMT spared time from their valuable and busy schedule to be a part of this proud event. Prof. Jatinder Kapoor and Dr. Gurpreet Singh conducted the stage in a commendable manner during the event.

‘Annual Convocation for the MBBS Batch 2015’

After a gap of nearly two years, ever since COVID pandemic struck a nation, two major functions including ‘Annual Convocation for the MBBS Batch 2015’ and ‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’ were held today in Auditorium of DMC College Campus.   

The dignitaries present during both the functions were Ms Vinny Mahajan (Chief Secretary of Punjab State), who was the chief guest on both the occasions along with President of DMCH Managing Society Sh Sunil Kant Munjal, Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Sh Varinder Sharma and city’s Police Commissioner Sh Naresh Aggarwal.

‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’

In the morning, a function ‘Naman….Gratitude to COVID Warriors’ to was held to express gratitude to all those front line health care workers, who worked very hard and with selfless dedication during the COVID crisis. Dr Vandana Midha (Professor of Medicine) extended warm welcome to all those present on the occasion and invited Medical Supdt. HDHI- Dr Bishav Mohan on the stage to share with audience the whole journey of DAYANAND MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL in fighting COVID virus and treating COVID patienst. In his address, Dr Bishav Mohan said that recent times of COVID have been very difficult for all of us as a society and it is due to the joint efforts of health care workers of various departments that helped in tackling this crucial situation. He strongly emphasized that Punjab State government and Ludhiana District Administration played a pivotal role in dealing with COVID crisis. The audience was shown an impressive slide presentation of various work forces and facilities & services being provided by the institution during COVID. Dr Rajesh Mahajan (Professor of Medicine) proposed a vote of thanks at the end of function.  

‘Annual Convocation for MBBS Batch 2015’

Another function held today was ‘ANNUAL CONVOCATION’ for the MBBS Batch 2015. Ms Vinny Mahajan, Chief Secretary of the Punjab state was the chief guest. The function began with welcome address by Assistant Dean Academics-Dr Sandeep Kaushal followed by speech delivered by Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, who introduced the chief guest to the audience.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri read out the college report, depicting various activities held in college for the past one year and academic publications contributed by the faculty members.

Dr Sandeep Kaushal administered HIPPOCRATC oath to the young medicos. President Sh Sunil Kant Munjal and Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta warmly congratulated the young medicos in successfully become qualified doctors.

The chief guest Ms Vinny Mahajan motivated the students to go beyond their academic pursuits and always keep their vision open to observe things around them. She advised the young medicos to be extremely humble and sincere to their parents. In all,32 medical graduates of Batch 2015 were awarded degrees including 2 medals and 3 trophies.

Silver Medal for Second Best Graduate of MBBS admission batch 2015 was given to Dr Dhruvika Tiwari and Gold Medal for First Best Graduate of MBBS admission batch 2015 was given to Dr Sanchi Baghla, who also got BEST ALL ROUNDER AWARD of MBBS Admission Batch 2015.

PCTE Organized Its Annual Convocation-2019

Around 500 graduates were awarded their degrees

PCTE Group of Institutes organized its  Annual Convocation function, 2019 at PCTE Campus – II. On the occasion, Prof. Sarit K Dass, Director, IIT Ropar, was the Honorable Chief Guest. Around 500 graduates were awarded their degrees in various disciplines like MBA, MBA-IB, MCA, M Pharmacy, B Pharmacy, B.Sc Biotechnology, B.Sc Medical Lab Sciences, BBA, B.Com (Hons.), BCA, BHMCT, Journalism & Mass Communication, Fashion Designing and ATHM. Keeping in mind the significant presence of the international students on campus, there was a representation of students from 52 countries including India with their respective flags. 

The students and the audience were then enthralled by the rousing speech of the Chief Guest,  Prof. Sarit K Dass, where he congratulated the students for the completion of their degree. Prof Sarit spoke on how to make life interesting & meaningful. At the same time, he said we should not bother about our beginning from where we have started, we have a long way to go. He further said that to make life meaningful, we have to be humble & grounded and should also be companionate towards people around us.

The students were awarded trophies for their excellent performance, where Mr. Shobhan Soi, a student of the batch of 2001-2003 was rewarded as “The Best Alumni Award” for his outstanding professional and personal success. Mr. Ahmed Osam Abdul Muhsen from Syria, a student of BCA batch 2016-19 was awarded Wg.Cdr. H.S.Gill award for his overall excellent performance. He said, “I am happy to receive this prestigious award after completion of my course. He added by saying “It is a defining moment in every student's life-giving his self-esteem a boost”

College colours awards were rewarded to the students for their excellent performance in the cultural events, where Anurag Madaan from B.Com was awarded for her superb performance in Theatrical Events, Amandeep Singh from MBA 2nd Year for Dancing, Bhupinder Kaur from B.Pharma for Music, Puneet Pal Singh from BBA for Athletics, Rajwinder Singh from Journalism for power lifting and Paras Bhola from BHMCT for Literary. 

Dr K.N.S Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes said he was glad that the graduation ceremony went off really well. He congratulated the graduates on the completion of their education and wished them luck for their future endeavors.

Annual Convocation of CMC & Hospital

43 Medical Graduates were awarded the degrees
Ludhiana, 16th March, 2013(Shalu Arora and Rector Kathuria):Annual Convocation of Christian Medical College, Christian Dental College, College of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy, Ludhiana was held on   16th March 2013 with traditional grandeur today in the College Campus, Dr. Harvinder S.Luthra, MD. Gill, John Finn Professor, Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic and Mayo Medical School, Rochester, USA was the Chief Guest. He said, “At the outset, let me thank the Institute for inviting me here to participate in this memorable occasion and to distribute the Convocation credentials to merit holders. This profession is prestigious, with ample scope for growth. You are part of the educated class that society looks up to, for guidance and awareness. On this convocation day, I wish all the young Doctors & Nurses the very best in life and a wonderful future with achievements and I wish they should also treat the poor people Christian Medical College has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in teaching and research in science. He also appreciated the Christian Medical College & Hospital for its exceptional services in the field of Medical.

Dr. Abraham G. Thomas, Director welcomed the gathering, Dr. S. M. Bhatti, Principal administered the Hippocratic Oath to the Graduates and Postgraduates. Forty three (43) Medical Graduates were awarded the degrees.  Students excelling in various academic activities were awarded Prizes and Medals by the Director CMC Ludhiana. 

Dr.Bir Inder Kumar chathley First Prize for best work during internship in SPM was given to Dr.Shipra Rachna Singh, Dr.Rejul K.Raj and Dr.Shyma Markose, Vipin Khanna memorial gold medal for best intern goes to Dr.Sebastian Marker. Dr.Jaswant kaur Gill Memorial award for best out going Medical Resident goes to Dr.Deepti Joy, out going Orthopaedics Resident award goes to Dr.Prince S.Khan, and Dr.Abraham G.Thomas Award for the best outgoing resident in Surgery goes to Dr.Kamal Nabh Negi. Dr.Eileen B.Snow- CMC Alumni Prize for best all round graduate goes to Elizabeth Wilson and Gayatri Bhattia. Overview of faculty achievements was presented by Principal, Dr. S.M.Bhatti. The Association of Medical Alumni awarded Life Time Achievement award to Dr. Arindra Nath Chatterjee. Dr. V. K. Satija Award for best Clinical Teacher went to Dr. Arpit Jacob Mathew while batch of 1976 Excellence in Teaching Award went to Dr. Nitin Batra.

Dr. Abi M. Thomas, Principal presented the college report. There were 40 BDS graduates to receive their degree.  13 students received gold medals.In the report the Principal highlighted the achievements of the faculty and students in the last year.  Ms. Shinu Koshy was the topper in the Final Prof. BDS exam in the college.  The passing percentage of the students in final Prof exam was 95% who completed BDS course.  Last year there were 21 publications, 24, paper presentations by the dental college faculty nationally and internationally.  At present there are 10 research project works undertaken during the last year. The student’s council actively supported the administration in co-coordinating difference programmes.  He expressed his gratitude to the CMC administration, Baba Farid University, Dental Council of India, Director of Medical Education and Research and Govt. of Punjab.

Nursing education has completed 124 years. Today 56 B. Sc. Nursing graduates awarded the degree on 37th Convocation. The Chief Guest awarded the prizes and medals to the academically outstanding graduates. Christina Benjamin B. Sc. Nursing 1st year, Gurwinder Kaur B. Sc. Nursing 2nd year, Damanpreet Kaur B.Sc. Nursing 3rd year, Navpreet Kaur B. Sc. Nursing 4th year secured 1st position in the College. Navpreet Kaur secured first position in B. Sc. Nursing Aggregate. Special prizes were awarded to Smitha Sebastian for the Best Community Health Student Nurse, Jainy K. for Best Bed Side Student Nurse and Sonia Mattu for the All Round Best Student Nurse. Dr. Usha Singh received THORPES (Special) AWARD for the successful completion of her Doctorate.

This was the second Convocation of the College of Physiotherapy, Christian Medical College. 15graduates were awarded the degree. Students of 1st, 2nd,3rd  & 4th years received  prizes & certificates for their achievements in the University examinations. Nine students had achieved University ranks. 20 distinctions in different subjects in University examinations held in September 2012. Divita Arora stood 2nd in the Final professional examination. Sukhampreet Kaur stood 1st in University in second professional examination.
